Functionland

The vision of Functionland is to provide a decentralized alternative to centralized cloud storage, prioritizing user privacy and data ownership. The project seeks to empower individuals by allowing them to manage their own data through hardware devices known as FxBlox, reducing reliance on traditional, centralized providers.

Functionland’s creators were driven by a desire to change the status quo of data storage by giving users full control over their personal information. The platform enables individuals to set up their own secure, blockchain-powered data servers at home, which contribute to a global network.

Part of this vision includes collaboration with renowned designers like Yves Béhar and his team at fuseproject, ensuring the hardware, such as the FxBlox, is not only functional but also aesthetically designed. This combination of cutting-edge technology and design demonstrates Functionland’s commitment to creating both a technically superior and user-friendly ecosystem.

Functionland achieved a major milestone by successfully crowdfunding its FxBlox hardware, raising over half a million dollars in its Indiegogo campaign. Since then, it has made significant strides, including launching the Fula Network Testnet to integrate on-chain protocols and test decentralized applications.

The platform has also developed key decentralized apps like FxFotos for photo management and FxFiles for file storage, available for mobile and desktop. The focus is now on refining these apps based on community feedback as Functionland continues to expand its ecosystem.

Functionland is led by a diverse and experienced team. The CEO is Keyvan Sadeghi, with Ehsan Shariati serving as COO. Other notable team members include Masih Derkani as CTO, Erfan Shekarchi handling tokenomics, and Sheida Shahbaz, who leads the NFT and art strategy.

The project has attracted significant backing from leading tech and Web3 investors, including Outlier Ventures, Techstars, Protocol Labs, and Parity Technologies. These partnerships reflect the strong potential of Functionland's vision to decentralize cloud storage.

The Fula Network Testnet has been initiated and is undergoing its final testing phase. Current participation in the testnet is limited to users who supported the project through early crowdfunding, though Functionland has plans to expand this to include NFT holders and more users in the future.

Testnet participants can join by setting up their FxBlox hardware and connecting it to the decentralized network through the app. The platform also offers users the opportunity to earn $FULA tokens by contributing storage or providing feedback during this testing phase. More updates on the mainnet and further developments are expected in early 2024.
