About MASQ Network

MASQ Network is a dMeshVPN, browser, web3 Store, protocol, and earning ecosystem that makes living in Web3 anonymous and private. The MASQ software suite offers users a truly private web3 browsing experience, built on a peer to peer mesh network. Users will be able to browse content that may be geo-blocked or censored in their region, enjoy their favorite website and dApps, while also offering the ability to earn cryptocurrency by supporting the peer network. The more the network grows, the stronger and more powerful the browsing experience will become - with all netizens sharing borderless internet freedom worldwide

The MASQ Browser is a decentralized web3 privacy browser that offers users a censorship-resistant browsing experience. It enables users to access global content securely without tracking, geo-blocking, or surveillance. The browser integrates with blockchain technology to provide features like web3 wallets, decentralized storage, and communication tools. Built on the MASQ Protocol, it operates through a mesh network that enhances user privacy by leveraging bandwidth sharing.

With MASQ, users can navigate the internet freely, share bandwidth to support the privacy of others, and earn $MASQ utility tokens. The platform aims to redefine how individuals engage with the internet by allowing seamless interaction with blockchain services and web3 dApps through its integrated dApp store. Users are part of a fully decentralized ecosystem, with enhanced privacy features and the ability to contribute to the growing MASQ Network.

The vision behind the MASQ Browser is to provide a secure and private browsing experience, free from censorship and surveillance, while embracing the full potential of decentralized web3 technologies. The team aims to create a browser that merges the familiar functionality of standard browsers with the enhanced privacy and security of a mesh network. Users can access global content without restrictions and enjoy privacy features unavailable in mainstream browsers.

Central to the project is the idea of a borderless internet, where users are not limited by geographic location or restrictive policies. MASQ's inspiration stems from the growing need for privacy protection and resistance to censorship in today’s digital landscape. By integrating decentralized communication and storage, MASQ aims to be the gateway for users transitioning from web2 to web3, offering an experience that is both familiar and revolutionary.

The development of MASQ is driven by a community-centered approach, with feedback from users shaping future updates. With features like MASQ Premium, users can unlock advanced privacy settings, while contributing to the overall ecosystem by sharing their bandwidth and engaging in the browser's decentralized features.

The MASQ project has laid out a comprehensive roadmap to enhance its ecosystem and reach key development milestones. In 2022, MASQ released version 0.4.7 of the browser app, a major update that included four rounds of phased testing with community testers. This helped shape the core functionalities of the browser, such as borderless browsing and blockchain integration. By late 2022, over 200 active nodes were connected during the Mumbai testnet phase, which was a significant achievement for stress-testing the network's infrastructure.

Moving into 2023 and beyond, MASQ has set its sights on several important milestones. These include the expansion of MASQ Premium features, which offer advanced privacy settings and browser customizations for token holders. Additionally, the development of features such as a hop selector (allowing users to modify the number of hops for improved security or speed) and the inclusion of further wallet extension support are major upcoming enhancements. This demonstrates the project's commitment to improving both privacy and user experience.

The roadmap also includes plans for launching the MASQ Public Mainnet on Polygon PoS. This will enable users to interact with the browser's decentralized network while benefiting from Polygon’s high-speed, low-cost transactions. Alongside this, MASQ is working on more web3 integrations, such as decentralized storage and communication tools, to provide users with a holistic decentralized internet experience. For more details on the roadmap, visit the MASQ documentation.

The MASQ Network was co-founded by KauriHero, who also serves as the project lead. The development team has grown over time, onboarding new contributors to enhance the software and expand the browser's features. The project is community-driven, with no venture capital or external investors, maintaining its open-source and decentralized ethos. The team also includes community members who contribute to various aspects of development, marketing, and ecosystem growth.

The project's decentralized nature means that development and updates are driven by both the core team and the community, with token holders having a say in the direction of the ecosystem. For a closer look at the team and the broader MASQ ecosystem, visit the MASQ website.

MASQ Browser has had an extensive beta testing phase, with over 300 users participating in its public testnet. Beta testers helped refine the browser by providing feedback and reporting bugs, contributing to the continuous improvement of the platform. In 2022, MASQ achieved over 200 active node users connected to the Mumbai test network, demonstrating the system's capacity for supporting decentralized privacy.

To access MASQ Premium features, users are required to hold a minimum amount of $MASQ tokens, allowing them to explore advanced functionalities like enhanced ad-blocking, customizable spaces, and history destruction. The public testnet is open to all, with rewards and incentives for active participants who contribute to the development process.

More information on the testnet program can be found on their official website.

MASQ Network FAQ

  • The MASQ Browser operates on a decentralized mesh network that hides your internet activity by routing it through multiple nodes. This means there is no central point of control, making your browsing harder to track. Additionally, MASQ includes features like DNS filtering and ad-blocking to further ensure your privacy. Learn more at the MASQ website.

  • Yes! The MASQ Browser allows users to earn $MASQ tokens by sharing their bandwidth with others on the network. By contributing to the decentralized system, you can passively earn tokens while browsing. This unique model allows users to not only experience privacy but also benefit economically from the network. More details at MASQ website.

  • MASQ Premium offers advanced features such as enhanced ad-blocking, history destruction, and the ability to customize your browsing experience through tools like MASQ Spaces. Premium users can also select the number of hops in the network for improved security or speed.

  • Absolutely! The MASQ Browser has a built-in dApp store, allowing you to access decentralized applications like wallets, storage platforms, and blockchain services directly from the browser. You can easily interact with popular web3 apps like ENS, Balancer, and IPFS without leaving the platform.

  • The $MASQ token powers the entire MASQ ecosystem. It is used for accessing Premium features, participating in governance, and even earning rewards by sharing bandwidth. It also acts as a defense mechanism against malicious actors by requiring tokens to request data from peers in the network. Read more about the $MASQ token at MASQ Docs.
