I decided to try KyberSwap to swap some ETH for DAI, a stablecoin that is pegged to the US dollar. I downloaded the KyberSwap app on my Android phone and connected it to my MetaMask wallet. The app interface was simple and intuitive, and I could easily find the tokens I wanted to swap. I entered the amount of ETH I wanted to swap and the app showed me the exchange rate, the estimated gas fee and the expected amount of DAI I would receive. I confirmed the swap and waited for the transaction to be processed. The swap was completed in less than a minute, which was impressive. However, I was not happy with the gas fee I had to pay, which was around $15 at the time. This was more than 10% of the value of my swap, which seemed excessive. I checked the KyberSwap website and found out that the gas fee was determined by the Ethereum network congestion and the complexity of the swap. I also learned that KyberSwap charges a 0.1% platform fee on top of the gas fee. I felt that these fees were not transparent enough and made the swap too costly for me. I also encountered some issues with the KyberSwap app. Sometimes the app would crash or freeze, and I had to restart it. Other times the app would not show the latest prices or the available tokens. I contacted the KyberSwap support team via their Telegram channel, but I did not receive a satisfactory response. The support team seemed to be overwhelmed by the number of queries and complaints, and they often redirected me to their FAQ page or their Discord channel. I felt that the support system was not secure or effective enough. Overall, I think KyberSwap is a convenient and fast way to swap tokens, but it also has some drawbacks. The main disadvantages are the high and variable gas fees, the lack of transparency on the platform fees, and the poor customer support. I would recommend KyberSwap to users who value speed and convenience over cost and security, and who are willing to pay a premium for using a DEX.
